Annual Quran Recitation
About: Each year, the CDI hosts more than eight Qur’an recitation gatherings open to the public, most of which are held during the blessed month of Ramadan. These spiritual evenings bring together the community to listen to the melodious recitation of the Noble Qur’an by around six renowned Imams and Qurra’ invited from different countries. ObjectiveThrough these programs, CDI aims to revive the love for the Qur’an in the hearts of people, strengthen the bond with Allah’s words, and remind all of the Prophet’s ﷺ saying:
(Sahih al-Bukhari) |
International Quran competitionsEach year, CDI nominates and supports talented young Qur’an memorizers to participate in prestigious international competitions, such as the Dubai International Holy Quran Award and the Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak International Holy Quran Competition. These blessed platforms gather participants from across the world who embody the beauty, precision, and spirituality of the Noble Qur’an. ObjectiveThrough its participation, CDI seeks to encourage the youth of Mauritius to strive for excellence in the memorization, recitation, and understanding of the Holy Qur’an. Boys and girls alike are inspired to uphold the words of Allah ﷻ, to perfect their Tajwīd, and to represent their country with honor and humility before the global Qur’anic community. |
Quran Competition for Indian Ocean Islands
In 2024, CDI launched the first Holy Quran Award for the Indian Ocean Islands, a historic milestone uniting Qur’an memorizers from across the region under the banner of the Book of Allah. This blessed initiative was established and organized by CDI with a unified set of rules and regulations, ensuring that the Award maintains the same high standards as it moves from one island to another in future editions. The inaugural edition of this noble event was hosted at Labourdonnais School, in the capital of Mauritius, with the participation of six islands and a total of around twenty contestants — each representing their nation with devotion, discipline, and love for the Qur’an. The program featured a variety of activities, including the Qur’anic competition, tourism and cultural visits, and coexistence programs with Mauritian families, fostering mutual understanding, cultural exchange, and brotherhood among the participants. The winners were awarded. ObjectiveThrough this pioneering effort, CDI aspires to strengthen unity among the Muslim communities of the Indian Ocean, encourage the memorization and recitation of the Noble Qur’an, and inspire the younger generation to embody its teachings in their daily lives. Truly, this Award stands as a shining symbol of Qur’anic excellence, regional harmony, and devotion to the message of Islam. |
Adhan competition
Multiple Adhān competitions titled “Al-Muʾadhin As-Saghīr” for young men are organized. Participants benefit from a focused crash course conducted by qualified instructors, ensuring they learn the correct rules of Tajwīd and the Sunnah manner of calling to prayer. The initiative culminates in a competition where outstanding young muʾadhins are recognized and awarded, encouraging them to embrace this noble responsibility and inspiring them to become role models within their communities. ObjectiveThis program is dedicated to reviving one of the greatest symbols of Islam by training the youth to deliver the Adhān with proper pronunciation, voice discipline, and adherence to prophetic etiquette. Through Al-Muʾadhin As-Saghīr, CDI seeks to cultivate spiritual awareness, leadership, and love for the rituals of Islam among the next generation. |
